Over 20 years ago, a simple idea shared among a few friends – to raise money to buy gifts for those in need during the holiday season – became the Sussex County Association of REALTORS® Community Service Foundation and was formally established as a 501 (c) (3) public charity in 2008. This Foundation has grown and evolved into Sussex Strong. After decades of quietly supporting and strengthening Sussex County, Delaware, it is time to take pride in our efforts, promote all the good works we’ve done and provide greater recognition to the scores of donors and volunteers that have made us so unique.
Sussex Strong has raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars through our various fundraising and charitable efforts over the years. And, as a result, we have helped thousands of families throughout the county by providing them with access to critical services such as:
- Food and clothing
- Housing
- Educational opportunities
- Disaster relief
- Assistance to other charitable organizations
Sussex Strong’s mission is simple – local REALTORS® helping neighbors in need. Sussex Strong fulfills our mission by hosting a variety of fun, annual events and volunteer opportunities for members of SCAOR, their friends, families, business affiliates and others to participate in such as the:
- REALTOR® Auction & Gala
- Holiday Shopping and Wrapping Days
- Annual Food Drive
- Guest Bartender Nights

With minimal overhead and administrative costs, Sussex Strong strives to keep our expenses as low as possible to ensure as much funding as possible goes directly to our charitable efforts in Sussex County. We rely 100% on the dedication of our all-volunteer Board of Directors along with the generosity of area REALTORS®, our business affiliates and friends, and our local community.
